2008 Heisman Trophy Final Rankings
      1) Chase Daniel
      2) Darren McFadden (If Returning)
      3) Tim Tebow
      4) Rashard Mendenhall
      5) Patrick White

As expected Tim Tebow won the Heisman Trophy and Chase Daniel did not, but I’ve already marked my calendar for the 2008 Heisman Trophy Presentation. Hell I might even book the trip and buy my tickets to attend right now. Hold on give me a few minutes I’m going to travelocity.com to buy my tickets......

Well I'm back and I don't want to tell you how much I paid for the tickets. I had to outbid some Columbia, Missouri house wife on eBay.com but getting the chance to see a Missouri player win the Heisman Trophy is worth it (See Blues Winning The Stanley Cup). So I splurged and spoiled myself. I’ve already got my tickets for the Illinois and Kansas game lined up.

Chase showed flashes of brilliance as a freshman when Brad Smith was injured and he was thrown to the wolves in the Iowa State Game in 2005. Chase showed he can air the ball out. So when it came time for Brad Smith to graduate Mizzou fans were not in crisis mode.

As a sophomore, in the 2006 season, expectations were mixed. A bowl game berth would have been an accomplishment but Missouri fans were given a treat. Mizzou started off the season 6-0 behind Chase Daniel but fell apart losing 4 of their next 5. Mizzou earned a berth in the prestigious Sun Bowl and blew a late lead to Oregon State. They finished the season 8-5. Chase finished the season with impressive stats: 3,527 yards, 28 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions.

This past season, as a junior, Chase accomplished the unthinkable. He took Mizzou to the Number 1 ranking behind his perfect precision. Mizzou’s only regular season defeat was on the road at the hands of rival Oklahoma. In that game Mizzou turned the ball over 4 times. Mizzou earned a berth in the Big 12 Championship game for the first time but once again tasted bitter defeat to Oklahoma.

Logic would have put Mizzou in the BCS Orange Bowl considering they finished the season ranked #6 but once again the BCS committee managed to drop the ball. Mizzou instead accepted a bid to play Arkansas in the Cotton Bowl (Which is a blessing in disguise). Chase’s extraordinary play earned him a trip to New York as a Heisman Finalist, finishing 4th overall. Chase’s season stats: 4,170 yards, 33 touchdowns and 10 interceptions.

The 2008 season has yet to be played but I will lay down my bold predictions based on Chase’s chart of maturity over the last two seasons. Mizzou opens up the season beating a tough Illinois team (2008 Big 10 Champion) behind Chase’s 350 yards passing and 4 touchdowns. The Tigers do not look back and run the table finishing the regular season 12-0 for the first time in history. Mizzou again earns a berth in the Big 12 Championship exacting revenge against Oklahoma earning a berth in the BCS Championship Game against an undefeated USC team. Mizzou overpowers the Trojans in route to their first NCAA Division 1 Championship. Chase finishes the season with: 4,700 yards, 40 touchdowns and 8 interceptions. Based on his achievements he is voted the Heisman Trophy Winner.
