The BCS skipping over Mizzou is upsetting for all Tiger fans. The Cotton Bowl is a great bowl game for the program, but it does not come with all the glitz and glamour of the BCS. Waking up on New Years day to watch Chase Daniel and Mizzou play a very one dimensional Arkansas team does not seem very appealing, but this game does have great meaning to the team and the future of the Mizzou program.
Chase Daniel will be playing this game in his own backyard. He will have plenty of supporters in the stands in Dallas, and it will be a time for chase to shine against another Heisman hopeful, Darren McFadden With a win Mizzou will most likely end up in the top 5 of the season ending rankings. This is a giant step for this program and the road only looks brighter from here.
Mizzou has recruited well out of the state of Texas with nearly 14 players on the current roster out of the high school football hot bed. Chase Daniel, Danario Alexander, and Evander Hood are all from Texas. This bowl game will ultimately be an all expenses paid recruiting trip for Gary Pinkle and his staff. Mizzou should invite every high school player from the state to this game and show them what the program is about and where they are planning to go. With many of the top players from the state of Missouri already committed to Mizzou for next year, gaining any recruiting edge against the other Big XII powers is always welcome.
Playing in the Orange Bowl against VA Tech would have been nice for the program, but we will gladly watch KU get beat on the big stage. Do you think KU has any chance of recruiting players from the south Florida area? The answer to that question is NO. KU has 1 player from Florida on there current roster. The reality is if Mizzou is not going to be in the BCS championship game it is better to play in an area where they have the ability to grab more players.
