The Blues have had a very solid start to the 2007-2008 season. They have continuously filled the Scottrade Center and out worked the opposition on a nightly basis. The team is filled with young talent with a few veteran leaders. If there is one thing missing from the team it is the ability to put the puck in the net. The Blues have been very strong defensively. They are third in the league in penalty killing and third in the league in goals against, but on the flip side the Blues are 27th in the league on the power play. If the Blues want to make a playoff push they are going to have to start scoring more goals.

Teemu Selanne has been a prolific goal scorer in the NHL since the early 90s. As a rookie in the league he lit the lamp 76 times which is a rookie record. Last season at the age of 38 he had 48 goals and 46 assists while helping the Ducks win the Stanley Cup. These numbers were gathered while playing on a line with newly acquired Blue Andy McDonald. This is the kind of scorer the Blues are missing. Brad Boyes is putting together one hell of a year, but Teemu could certainly help solidify the scoring woes of the Blues.

Teemu has been skating and working out everyday and he never filed his retirement papers to the league. This is strong evidence that he wants to play in the league this year. He talks on the phone daily with his best friend Paul Kariya. Kariya and Selanne also played together in Anaheim.

Dave Checketts and the ownership group of the Blues have proven that they will flip the bill to sign a player that will help the team, promoting the Whatever It Take motto. Kariya and McDonald will certainly be trying to get Teemu to come to St. Louis, and a player of that caliber will improve this team drastically. Do not be surprised if you see Selanne in a new uniform in the next couple weeks.
